Academic Governance - Governing Council

The major functions of the Governing Council are: - Monitoring progress in relation to the achieving of strategic goals established in the Strategic Plan.
- Reviewing policies, guidelines and procedures in relation to academic, educational and academic staffing matters.
- Maintaining an effective overview of the academic activities of Shafston.
- Receiving reports from the Boards of Studies through the Academic Board.
- Granting of academic awards.
- Providing a forum for debate about higher education matters of concern to Shafston.
- Hearing, examining and determining on behalf of Shafston, student appeals against decisions made by the Academic Board, or the Boards of Studies or any other academic committees, or the Executive Director (academic) in relation to but not limited to: exclusions, assessments, special considerations, and admissions.
